(Note Bold Alliance is no longer active as Bold Oklahoma in the state of Oklahoma.)
Bold Oklahoma under the Bold Alliance — led by organizer Mekasi Camp Horinek — was launched in 2016 to bring together an unlikely alliance of farmers, ranchers, Tribal Nations, urban and rural communities in a state of diverse culture. In addition to working in the state of Oklahoma to stop the Plains All-American Diamond Pipeline; expose methane leaks at oil and gas facilities on Tribal lands; work with Tribal Nations to enact fracking moratoriums on their lands; and organize opposition to a state bill targeting peaceful pipeline protests — while working with Bold, Mekasi spent 6 months organizing on the ground with the Water Protectors at Standing Rock.
